Why Massage Therapists Go To Special Schools

The level of education that anyone needs these days may vary. There are basically numerous specialty schools and colleges that admit students who would like to learn certain skills that they can use in real life setting. You may have heard of beauty schools in the USA where anyone can learn the art of hairdressing, makeup for variety of events and occasions, and hairstyling. These are the types of careers that unfold in front of beauty students as they learn the basic skills and their specializations several months later.

Same goes for those who would like to become massage therapists. Unlike beauty schools that have informal setting and modules, massage schools offer curriculum that’s similar to many other bachelor’s degree courses. The aim of many massage training schools is provide proper training and certification of individuals who are enrolled.

Massage therapy is similar to physical therapy in a sense that the individual is trained to understand the pressure points of the body and where to properly apply pressure when needed in order relieve muscle tension.

But why go over all these trainings if one is bound to work in the wellness industry and not the medical field?

First of all, you will be dealing with people with certain reasons for visiting a wellness spa, for example. Though they are not injured or sick, they need specialized treatment that only massages can provide. A non-graduate of massage therapy or someone who just knows how to give massages is likely to cause injuries than someone who has proper training in proper massage training schools setting.

Another important reason, as stated earlier, is to earn certification. The wellness industry is huge because many people are after the services of massage therapists and spa businesses. It used to be a small market, but these days you will find clients who are truly investing their money in wellness services and products. They are tired, weary, and needing rejuvenation from working too hard. And of course, the business-minded folks have seen this increasing need. You can find stand-alone spa centers, spa resorts, hotels, and salons with such extended services.

With the interest of business folks in establishing their spas and wellness centers, the need for qualified people is definitely a requirement. First one to check is the massage training schools if they have graduating students who would like to become interns. Internships allow any student to see a real-life setting of the possible work they may end up with after graduation. It also allows them to learn from their mentors about different techniques they can apply in the future.

While others just let go of the opportunity by not getting a proper training in a massage college or training institute, they are also losing credibility as time goes. The purpose of massage colleges or training schools is to provide the credibility you deserve through education, practical application, and of course certification. Just think of how you will be selected, if ever, by a spa or wellness center if have enough credentials and the documents to prove them.

You can learn about massage school by searching on the web. Browse through their courses and training that will best fit your innate skills and capacity.

An introduction to Solipsism

Solipsism takes the position that the mind is the only thing that can be known to exist. All knowledge outside of the mind is completely baseless. This leads to the belief that reality, in its entirety, is a mere representation of the individual self. There are no independent realities, and there is a lack of solid proof of an external world. Strong Solipsism believes that there is absolutely no proof of an external world.

There are three types of Solipsism.

Metaphysical Solipsism: The idea that the individual self of an individual is the entire reality. The external world and other people are mere representations of the self. There are no independent realities.

Epistemological Solipsism: The idea that only the directly accessible mental contents of an individual can be known. The idea of an external world remains unresolved.

Methodological Solipsism: The idea that the individual self and the mental state are the possible starting points for constructing philosophical theories. All other truths must be based on indisputable facts about a person’s consciousness. A person’s beliefs have no foundation on the outside world.

Descartes philosophies are deeply rooted in the philosophical theories of Solipsism. He theorizes that the individual acknowledges all psychological concepts when compared with the person’s mental state.  Descartes doubted the existence of the world around him.

Solipsism has been widely criticized for being a self-involved theory of philosophy, and many people reject it. While the theory of Solipsism cannot be proved or disproved, it is definitely one of the most interesting theories that you will find in philosophy.

“Maybe each human being lives in a unique world, a private world different from those inhabited and experienced by all other humans. . . If reality differs from person to person, can we speak of reality singular, or shouldn’t we really be talking about plural realities? And if there are plural realities, are some more true (more real) than others? What about the world of a schizophrenic? Maybe it’s as real as our world. Maybe we cannot say that we are in touch with reality and he is not, but should instead say, His reality is so different from ours that he can’t explain his to us, and we can’t explain ours to him. The problem, then, is that if subjective worlds are experienced too differently, there occurs a breakdown in communication … and there is the real illness.”

Exercise for a Healthier Mind

In today’s society it is very easy to get bogged down in everyday life. Work, home commitments and other tasks can begin to take over. Having down time for you mind is very important to achieve good health (remember, health is physical and mental). There are lots of ways to relax your mind, yoga, going for a walk, taking part in a sport etc. For me, the preferred method of relaxation is exercise. These are some reasons why exercise can be such a good way to relax your mind.

  • You can switch your mind off to the outside world. When you enter the gym or start your workout, try to forget about everything else going on in your life. You are there to focus and do one thing – train. Making your mind focus on one activity like this can help you relax and forget stressful things that are bothering you. The time away gives you a chance to recover.
  • A break from working an bring new light to a problem. If you spend all day thinking about a problem or task that needs doing, but your not sure how to solve it, chances are you have been going round in circles in your head for a while. Getting a good bit of exercise done allows your mind to reset itself and start fresh. When you return to look at the problem, new ideas will come to you that had otherwise been ignored
  • Emotional relief. Everyone has days when they are irritated by things around them, sometimes for a good reason, others simply because you woke up on the wrong side of bed. Use your emotion to fuel your training. Anger and frustration can be bought out by lifting weight, spurring you to greater intensity. The relief you feel once the emotion has been taken out on the weight or exercise can feel incredibly liberating. Remember, you can hurt the weights, so throw them around and give them everything you have.
  • Removal from the rush. Life is so rushed these days. You need to hit this deadline and that deadline, or make it to that appointment or you’ll get in trouble. Exercise is done in your time, to your plan. You are the boss of your training session and the only person to answer to is you. Having the time out where no one else is watching your every step or measuring your performance allows you to perform at your best. If you truly want to do something, you should be doing it to the best of your ability without others having to constantly push you. Hopefully, exercise and fitness is something you want to do, so the time while you’re doing it should allow you to relax, while still working hard.
  • Brain off, body on. After you have been training for a little while, the process of performing exercises becomes second nature. You don’t have to consciously think about how your technique is, because you have been doing it long enough for the muscle to know what its doing without much conscious instruction. You can choose to focus on other things, like the contraction of muscles or the rhythm of your breathing. Listening to your body operating and understanding the responses to certain actions is almost a form of meditation.

Hopefully each of these points has helped put your training sessions in a different light. Its not just about making your body stronger and fitter, it also about keeping your mind healthy.

Is Coconut Oil Good to Prevent Tooth Decay?

The use of coconut oil has long been synonymous with thick shiny hair and a healthy heart. But a recent study by researchers at the Athlon Institute of Technology’s Bio-science Research Institute in Ireland has shed light on an overlooked use of coconut oil in the field of dental care.

Coconuts are one of the most nutritionally rich foods on the planet and have been a dietary staple for people living in tropical regions for centuries. Coconut is a natural weapon against many harmful types of bacteria, viruses and protozoa. Due to their antimicrobial properties, coconuts, especially their oil, have had a very positive effect on human health. Adding to the list of benefits is the effect of coconut oil on our teeth.

Dr. Damien Brady Views on Coconut Oil for Dental Health

In the opinion of Dr. Damien Brady, the lead researcher, dental caries is a commonly overlooked health problem affecting around 60-90% of children and a majority of adults in industrialized countries. Dr. Brady and his team set out to test coconut oil’s bacteria obliterating properties against the bacteria responsible for causing tooth decay, specifically against Streptococcus bacteria which are among the most common oral bacteria in humans. Tests were conducted for the coconut oil in both the natural and also the semi-digested state. The digested state was achieved by adding enzymes to the oil in a process resembling the digestive process.

Natural v/s Digested Oil

The natural oil failed to have any observable impact. However the digested oil brought about a reduced rate of multiplication in the bacteria, mainly in streptococcus mutans a bacteria known for secreting tooth decaying acids. It is hypothesized that the breakdown of fatty coconut oil by our digestive enzymes turns it into acids that have the ability to destroy certain bacteria. Earlier studies have shown that enzyme-modified foodstuffs have the capacity to kill pathogens. Semi-digested milk protein caused a significant decrease in harmful bacteria latching onto intestinal cells and even went as far as preventing some of them from entering the cells. Expansion of the study to other microbes has revealed enzyme modified coconut oil can destroy Candida albicans, a yeast causing thrust.

This study may open new avenues for developing more effective dental care products. Use of enzyme-modified coconut oil in the oral care industry may prove more beneficial than the use of chemical additives as it works at particularly low concentrations. This study can have implications in dental care and overall health. With the increasing immunity of microbes to modern antibiotics, the need to explore more natural directions to combat microbial infections has never been greater.

Get Your Time Organised To Achieve More In Life

Get Your Time Organised To Achieve More In Life time management multi tasking

Today, I am about to discuss how you can get more out of life by getting your time well organised on daily basis.

If you are like me and other multi-tasking persons, you will realize that you are always scrambling for time at the end of each day. Some day you go to bed happy while others you feel like shouting on yourself for behaving so kiddie.

The following seven tips are invaluable in getting you organised and achieving more on daily basis:

Get Organised First:

If you want to get more out of each day, then organisation of your life is what you should focus on. This will make your day to run smoother and you will realize the things that are important and focus on them one after the other.

This approach will separate out things which are trivial for the left over time when you have finished the important ones first.

Most successful people organised the next day before they go to bed. This way, they wake up with the exact blueprint of what their day will look like.

Efficient And Effective Time Management:

I have already mentioned some of this principle above. But I also want to add that it has been a known fact that the morning hours are the most productive time of the day. This means that difficult tasks be done first followed by less difficult once to simple ones in that order.

Of course this rules out irrelevant social and careless talks to the barest level. You should let your visitors know, at least by body language when their time is over.

Keep Focused:

Pick one task at a time and finish it before you go to the next one. Some people mistakenly take multi-tasking to mean putting your hands in so many things at once. This may only help to slow your day. Finish what you have at hand before taking up the next one, unless you have cogent reason to keep it aside.

Mind Your Nutrition:

Your feeding habit is a very essential part of your successful day. An unhealthy diet can make your day to run up and down, fast and slow like an old and over-loaded car.

Overeating can become your worst enemy. Taking heavy diet in the morning may not help you unless you are a manual worker.

Regular Sleep:

An adult needs 6 – 8 hours of sleep in the night and 15 minutes to 1 hour rest in the daytime. This all depends on your kind of work, but it is noteworthy that an adequate sleep will help you be refreshed and think faster with better results.

Adequate Energy:

Some people may find out that they need a little push to meet up their schedule for the day. Coffee is very useful here, but take care not to overdose as it can raise health issues in the long run. Also note that taking it 5 hours before sleeping time can disturb your sleeping pattern.

Take A Break:

Over labouring yourself can sometimes be counter-productive. So when your body seems to complain and you find that you are losing concentration, then, it is wise to take a break.

If you use these seven tips to manage your time each day, you will see that you will have more success and be happy with your time management efforts.
