The Norman Transcript women and men example science computer model butt boil abortion

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

Sunday’s paper had a piece about a razor. Didn’t say if it was electric or battery; but did have a lot about science versus faith! toward the end, the piece said: “Denial gets us nowhere…” It kinda tickles me in a perverse sort of way when people start trotting out “science” to justify this or that argument. It many times is justified or ignored depending upon whether it helps or hinders the point the writer is trying to make.

Global warming, for example. “Science” and “Scientists agree” are bandied around in any polemic about the portending end of the world as proved by a computer model. The solution, which would reduce the U.S. to the equivalent of Zambia, but would have a negligible effect on the problem, is proposed with little mention of what that would mean to the average American. of course, anyone who opposes the solution or who attempts to discuss cost versus benefit is dismissed as an ignorant rube. I personally think mankind is but a boil on the butt of mother nature; but, that’s just one man’s opinion!

Womyn’s lib: We’re told ad infinitum how capable women are of taking over every aspect of the workplace and the military; but, when some guy happened to put forth a couple of “scientific facts,” i.e. women and men are differently abled, the women were helped out of the room with fainting spells and he lost his job.

Abortion: One can Google the science involved in determining when “life” starts; but, science has nothing to do with “Choice!” Politics and judges shuffle through 13 weeks and first trimester, etc. while Alibama figured it’s within his pay grade to argue on the Senate floor that if partial birth abortion doesn’t complete the task at hand it’s OK to put the little being in a dark room ’til he/she/it expires.

Homosexuality: Science goes by the wayside here, too. If genetics determined sexuality (as above: he/she/it) and gays got married to propagate the species (survival of the fittest and all that) homosexuality would be a footnote in “The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire.”

I saw a bumper sticker a while back that said: “If survival of the fittest is right; why are you still here?” In deference to the half page mentioned above devoted to science, creationism and Intelligent Design, it’s my opinion that if any type of intelligent design was involved said designer was either a practical joker or has since been relegated to a rubber room.

New National Health Organization Formed: AAOSH – American Academy for Oral Systemic Health

Elgin, IL (Vocus) October 29, 2010

Dr. Dean Lodding just returned from Madison, Wisconsin, where dental leaders from all over the country convened over the weekend to hold the founding meeting for the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health (AAOSH). The formation of this organization could not have come at a better time, says Dean Lodding, DDS. More and more research just keeps pouring in that confirms all the connections between the health of the mouth and the resulting health of the body.

The newly-inaugurated AAOSH will bring together medical professionals from all fields and try to eliminate the tunnel vision that can exist between medical specialties. Members will commit themselves to working and learning together in the ultimate spirit of cooperation, so that patients everywhere can enjoy the resulting benefits of improved general health, healing, longevity and wellness. When dentists and physicians work together, medical outcomes will be improved and lives will be lengthened, states AAOSH President Dr. Chris Kammer. Many people still dont understand that good dental health can add years to your life, so one of our missions is to educate the public as well.

Several nationally-known clinicians who attended the meeting gave short presentations on the latest findings related to the seriousness of oral disease in America. One speaker revealed how a couple was not able to conceive a child until the mothers rampant gum infection was put under control. Another speaker discussed how diabetes can make gum disease worsen, but that gum disease can also make diabetes worse a vicious circle of death unless dentists and physicians unite and intervene. In addition, advanced dental techniques and systems for treating periodontal disease and tooth decay were shared, as well as an extended program on the importance of nutrition. The new organization has 50 founding members and anticipates rapid growth as more and more professionals absorb the data that demonstrates the relationship of oral health to body health, and vice versa.

Dr. Lodding and his hygienist Stephanie have both been elected to the Executive Board, and are also serving on various committees to help the organization with planning and future goals. They are very excited about this position and have a lot to offer the AAOSH.

Were excited about finally working closely with cardiologists, diabetic specialists, obstetricians and many more medical specialties, explains Dr. Dean Lodding. AAOSH is all about opening those doors of communication and offering to help, so that we can contribute to the improved health for the patients we share. Dr. Dean Lodding practices at http: Smile For Life Dental in Elgin and is committed to advancing the dental profession, for the benefit of his patients and the public as a whole.

Celebrating 125 Years of Nursing at Penn

Since the beginning of the modern nursing profession, when formally preparing nurses to treat the sick was a novel concept, Penn has been at the forefront. Today, the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing is a pioneer in research, clinical development, and education. as a leader in nursing science, Penn Nursing is one of the premier research institutions in the world, and faculty at Penn Nursing consistently receive more research funding from the National Institutes of Health than those at any other private nursing school. Penn Nursing produces new knowledge in aging, biobehavioral research, health disparities, health outcomes and policy, the history of nursing, transitions in health, and the spectrum of healthcare. many Penn Nursing master’s programs are ranked first in the country and Penn Nursing students are prepared to be nurse leaders in the 21st century.

In September, 1886, the Training School for Nurses of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania opened to care for the patients of the hospital’s physicians. Students like Mary J. Burns, the first graduate of the school in 1887, were expected to keep a demanding schedule of class work, lecture attendance, and patient care six-and-a-half days a week.

In 1898, the HUP School undertook its first out-of-state outreach program. HUP nurses staffed a train bringing Spanish-American War soldiers from Chickamauga Park, TN, to Philadelphia to be treated for typhoid (see below).

In the early 20th century, nursing students continued to apply themselves to a rigorous schedule of study, patient care, and physician assistance. all their education was accomplished in the hospital setting.

In 1935, Penn’s School of Education added a department of nursing education. in 1944, the University established a formal degree-granting program in the Division of Medical Affairs at the Medical School. the programs merged in 1950 to create an independent School of Nursing of the University of Pennsylvania. Theresa I. Lynch, EdD, RN, a 1920 graduate of the HUP School of Nursing, was the first and founding dean of the new School of Nursing.

EdD, RN, FAAN, a significant figure in psychiatric-mental health nursing, was appointed dean. her tenure was marked by a growth in graduate education and development of specialty preparation at the master’s level.

As dean, Dr. Claire M. Fagin set the school on a course of research and clinical development and developed landmark education programs. Dr. Fagin served as the interim president of the University of Pennsylvania from July 1, 1993, to June 30, 1994.

As dean, Dr. Norma M. Lang instituted a three-part mission to enhance and integrate nursing research, education, and practice. Dr. Lang’s vision of interdisciplinary nurse-managed clinical practices is a lasting contribution to schools of nursing internationally.

As interim dean, Dr. Neville E. Strumpf reinvigorated faculty governance, moved strategic planning initiatives forward, and continued to build the School’s reputation for scholarship.

Dr. Afaf I. Meleis became the fifth dean of the School in 2002. Under her leadership, Penn Nursing has positioned itself as one of the world’s pre-eminent schools of nursing, internationally renowned for innovative research, teaching, and practice.

Leading an intensive strategic planning initiative, Dr. Meleis has overseen a broad program of research development, the integration of nursing practice and nursing education, and a focus on nursing’s influence in health policy. Under her leadership, the School established the departments of Biobehavioral Health Sciences and Family and Community Health; a new Office for Practice and Community Affairs; and new research centers, including the Biobehavioral Research Center, the Center for Health Equity Research, the NewCourtland Center for Transitions and Health, and in 2011, the Center for Global Women’s Health.

Today, the School’s emphasis on “Nursing Science” and “Care to Change the World” reflect the School’s reach and Penn Nursing’s presence in the many education abroad programs, interprofessional global partnerships,

Wholesome, Healthful Supplements Offered Through NaturalAlphaLipoicAcid.com

Wholesome, Healthful Supplements Offered Through NaturalAlphaLipoicAcid.com systemic enzymes health and beauty products free radicals essential fatty acids

Las Vegas, Neveda (PRWEB) September 23, 2011

Web entrepreneur Rose Byerly is pleased to debut her online supplement store, NaturalAlphaLipoicAcid.com. The site, launched in August 2011, carries healthful supplements including alpha lipoic acid, amino acid, digestive enzymes and fiber, essential fatty acids, vitamins, and health and beauty products. A complementary site pertaining to healing, LightWorkerUSA.com is also run by Byerly.

“On NaturalAlphaLipoicAcid.com we offer natural supplements that are screened by me for quality,” said Byerly. “These are supplements that I have used for my own healing or that other people I know have used successfully for their healing.”

Alpha lipoic acid supplements, the namesake of the retail site, give the body an antioxidant boost. Unlike other antioxidants that only work in water or fatty tissues, alpha lipoic acid is fat and water soluble, meaning it can work throughout the body attacking free radicals and revitalizing other antioxidants in the system. A variety of sources are offered, including grape seed extract, pomegranate juice concentrate, and superior reds. If free radicals are a major concern, add other antioxidant supplements to a diet, like Astragalus Immunity herb tea or Acai berry extra strength 1200 mg Natrol. All nutrients are converted into amino acids, the body’s fuel. If bodies lack systemic enzymes needed to create the enzymatic cascade, the body will be lacking essential amino acids. Fortunately, those amino acids can be replaced through supplements like L-Glutathione 500 mg, L-Lysine 500 mg, or Mega Taurine caps – all of which serve specific purposes detailed on the site.

“I’m not out to make a killing. I started my business because I want to share with others the gift I have been given: the gift of life, the gift of help,” said Byerly. “That’s really the main reason that I started this business, especially LightWorkerUSA.com – that site is central as far as documenting my own healing, and NaturalAlphaLipoicAcid.com is right next to that. it all has to do with sharing the gift of healing, gift of wellness with others.”

Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to Byerly and her staff. Each product sold through NaturalAlphaLipoicAcid.com has the minimum amount of fillers and the purest, best potency available. Additionally, shoppers will save 10 percent on many products and most items ship for free. Customers will always be able to speak with a live person. Feedback regarding products and services is encouraged so the site can continually improve. In the unlikely event that an order is not filled precisely, customers are urged to contact Byerly immediately so the situation can be remedied.

Said Byerly, “We will always use the golden rule as we conduct business by doing for others as we would have them do for us.”

For additional product information and reviews, visit the brand new blog, NaturalAlphaLipoicAcidBlog.com. Byerly frequently updates the interactive platform with insights into her own healing experience.

About the Company: NaturalAlphaLipoicAcid.com – a division of BuyTell Services LLC Series 1 – is owned and operated by CEO Rose Byerly and VP Robert J. Bechtel.
