If you have Hypertension will your blood pressure ever go down without medication?

I am wondering because I have a lot of anxiety and when I take my blood pressure it jumps around depending on how nervous I get. sometimes it can be 140/90 and sometimes 121/76. I was wondering if I had Hypertension would my blood pressure ever be able to go down to normal or is it just always high for people with Hypertension? so if mine is 121/76 just once I should be OK?

Thanks…

If you are overweight, getting down to a healthier weight usually lowers blood pressure. it sounds like you're an anxious person, and I must say that measuring your blood pressure all the time isn't going to help, it'll just give you something else to worry about.
Talk to a doctor about these and any other medical issues you may have, so that you can work together to come up with a plan to feel better, both mentally and physically. Good luck icon smile If you have Hypertension will your blood pressure ever go down without medication? worry anxious person

Well, my husband was diagnosed with whitecoat hypertension. His is normal when we check it at home, but always gets higher when he's anxious/at the dr's office/ in a stressful situation.
But I have heard that the drastic up's and down's are more damaging than just having moderately high bp.
My husband started really watching sodium in all foods, ate more whole grains, high fiber cereal and his has been really good.
In some people it is genetic and there is nothing but medication that will help, but other times if you're overweight or have an unhealthy diet, you can control it on your own by treating those things.

-It does go down, but slowly, just try to rest when it happens
-avoid fatigue for less occurence
-if it's associated with other disease, well it's another situation, so ask the doctor about it

I hope u ok i got high blood pressure and im well scared. can u comfort me?

I have hypertension (and I'm also on Prozac). mine stayed quite high for almost 2 years (consistently)…no it's not likely that yours would go down to safe levels (121/76 is a TERRIFIC BP!)..if you had hypertension….you see, the bad thing about hypertension is that the BP STAYS high…that is when the problems can start…that is when Dr's become concerned…
If yours is steadily high over a course of a long period, then you may have it….
If you are concerned, talk with your Dr about it…NEVER try to "self diagnose"…

Blood pressure normally varies all over the place, and even varies throughout the day.

A doctor would probably ask you to take your blood pressure the same way, the same time every day. that way, you'll at least get a feel for what typical blood pressure numbers for you are.

If you're looking for lifestyle changes that can permanently lower your blood pressure, there are some that work for some people, but nothing works for everyone. Even medication has different results, not everyone can use the same medication to control blood pressure.

Useful home remedies that do work for some people are managing stress (and avoiding unnecessary stress), exercising regularly (cardio), and maintaining a healthy weight. Avoiding excess salt and excess alcohol in the diet is wise, too.

If your anxiety is a big problem, you may end up getting help for high anxiety, and find that this lowers your blood pressure as a side benefit.
