FOR the first time since the advent of government health care, First Nations in B.C. will be overseeing their own services, thanks to a landmark pact signed at Xwemelch’stn Thursday.

Federal Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq, B.C. Minister of Health Michael de Jong and Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn Atleo, who all attended the signing, are hailing the agreement as a milestone in the relationship between government and aboriginal peoples.

The pact commits the federal government to handing over responsibility for First Nations healthcare planning and delivery in B.C. to a new First Nations Health Authority, work that is currently handled by Health Canada.

“This will streamline administration,” Aglukkaq said, “encourage the integration of federal and provincially funded health services and allow health-care decision to be made closer to home.”

“If you look at how our people engage with the system,” said Joe Gallagher, CEO of the First Nations Health Society, “We usually don’t access services until we’re really, really sick, as opposed to some of the early-on preventative pieces. if you look at dentistry for example, the way the program works, it’s actually a deterrent for dentists to take on First Nations clients because the federal government has created too much bureaucracy to access the fees for services.”

Many of the details are still to be worked out over the next two years, but Gallagher said the agreement will allow First Nations to determine which services should be delivered by existing provincial health authorities.

Ottawa is providing $17 million in transition funding, along with $83.5 million from the province. Once the handover is complete, the federal government will provide $380 million each year for the First Nations authority, a number that is expected to rise with population and cost increases.

Byron Joseph, co-chair of the Squamish Nation Council, also praised the agreement and said he looked forward to a First Nations Health Authority putting a new emphasis on mental health issues, particularly for residential school survivors and their families.

“I think listening might have been becoming a problem,” he said of Health Canada. “We are feeling the generational impacts from that system today. there needs to be a lot of help in the mental health area. It’s been low on the totem pole for so long.”

RiveraWell I have to say it did whiten my teeth a bit but I don’t think I would get fast sufficient results if I just stick to their once each other week deal, so I’m going to combine it with another treatment. Oh yeah and it did make my gums a bit sore but hey beauty never comes without a price… right? I in truth do think this product will work marvelously with like crest white strips. anyways if nothig else buy it for the nifty light. Happy Whitening!!!!

The substitute gel ran out of my mouth guard and was hard to keep in my mouth and not swallow. The whitener with the blue light worked but I necessitated more time than 20 minutes. unless I use a straw to drink coffee and red wine my teeth do darken again. The price is diffentely better than paying what most dentist charge. I would commend this product.

There are quite a few options when it comes to teeth whitening; it all depends on what you need. Whether you need a quick whitening for your teeth or you find that you have time to get that white, glowing smile that you always wanted, there are different processes that you can choose. Some ways to get white teeth are quick but expensive, and some tooth whitening options take longer but won’t break the bank. make sure to assess your teeth whitening options before jumping in.

The first and obvious approach is to ask your dental caretakers; they will know the ins and outs of teeth whitening and will be happy to help. of course, this does come with a price. the dental white that comes with dentists can be expensive. know before hand that you will be paying for the teeth whitening along with the co-pays–multiple visits for white teeth will add up. Dentists will know about your oral health, but they are not the only places to go for white teeth.

There are two viable options for teeth whitening if you want professional teeth whitening; the first is quick and expensive. Laser teeth whitening will work very quickly. I did teeth whitening Sandy where I live and I only had to have one visit and my teeth were white. It was a lot of money, though, and I don’t have the funding to do laser teeth whitening again. the second option at the dentist to get white teeth is to get custom made trays and tooth whitening gel. this takes a while longer to make teeth white, but it is less expensive. the dental visits, though, do add up.

There are also ways to get white teeth if you want to stay away from professional teeth whitening. Teeth whitening products are everywhere; whitening strips, whitening toothpaste, white dental floss, bleaching mouthwash, and teeth whitening gum. all of them claim one thing; that they will make your teeth white and therefore give you the smile you deserve. but which ones really work?

Teeth whitening strips, along with teeth whitening gels, have been proven to work well; though they may take a while, they do the job of whitening your teeth. They work because they have bleaching properties that makes your teeth white. In the case of whitening toothpaste, it does not necessary have those bleaching qualities. Whitening toothpaste will mostly help clean off any surface stains and keep your teeth white if they already are white, but will do little bleaching.

When it comes to teeth whitening products such as dental white floss or bleaching mouthwash, it is anyone’s guess whether they work or not. Floss and mouthwash will definitely help your oral health, but as to whether they will make your teeth white it is still a question. Not enough research is being done on the topic to be sure.

There are, of course, teeth whitening home remedies. Bleaching a tooth can be easy, but it can be at the detriment of your oral health or overall health. Hydrogen peroxide is said to aid in teeth whitening, but it is also said that it will ruin fillings. Never put your teeth whitening over your oral health, even if it is for that dental white that everyone wants so badly.
